    Hand-Blended Tea

    A Bay Area Tea Tradition

At Weaver's Coffee & Tea, our passion for tea goes back more than four decades.

Long before Weaver's was founded, co-founder and Master Coffee Roaster John Weaver spent four years working side by side with coffee and tea pioneers Alfred Peet and Sal Bonavita. While both men helped shape the future of specialty coffee in America, they were also respected tea experts who believed great tea deserved the same attention to quality, craftsmanship, and consistency as great coffee.

Those years helped shape John's understanding of flavor, blending, sourcing, and the importance of creating products customers could enjoy every day.

Today, that tradition continues through Weaver's collection of hand-blended teas.

    Learning from Masters

Beginning in 1980, John worked alongside Alfred Peet and Sal Bonavita, learning the art and science of coffee roasting, coffee blending, and tea blending.

Tea blending requires patience, experience, and a deep understanding of how ingredients work together. Creating a balanced tea is not simply combining leaves and botanicals. It is understanding how aroma, body, sweetness, and character come together to create a memorable cup.

The lessons John learned during those early years became the foundation of a career that would later include 27 years as Master Coffee Roaster at Peet's Coffee before co-founding Weaver's Coffee & Tea in 2007.

    Hand-Blended with Purpose

At Weaver's Coffee & Tea, we believe tea should be approachable, flavorful, and consistent.

Our teas are carefully selected and blended to create balanced flavor profiles that customers can enjoy every day. Whether served hot or iced, each tea reflects the same commitment to craftsmanship that guides our coffee roasting program.

    Why Hand-Blended Tea Matters

Hand-blended tea offers a level of care and attention that cannot be replicated through mass production.

Every blend is created with a focus on:

    • Flavor balance
    • Ingredient quality
    • Consistency from cup to cup
    • Everyday enjoyment
    • Craftsmanship and tradition

The goal is simple: deliver a tea experience customers can look forward to every day.

    More Than a Beverage

Tea has a unique way of slowing us down.

It creates moments to gather with friends, take a break during a busy day, or simply enjoy a few quiet minutes to yourself.

For John Weaver, tea has always been part of the same philosophy that guides great coffee: quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and respect for the people enjoying it.

    Continuing the Tradition

More than forty years after first learning tea blending alongside Alfred Peet and Sal Bonavita, John continues to apply those principles at Weaver's Coffee & Tea.

Every hand-blended tea we offer reflects a Bay Area tradition built on craftsmanship, consistency, and a genuine love for the beverage.
